Veronica Clapp has been practicing in the field of counseling since 2013, when she received her Master's degree from Cairn University. Prior to becoming an outpatient counselor in 2014, she worked as a residential counselor for adults and as a therapeutic staff support (TSS) working with children to improve behaviors in their community setting. Veronica holds a certificate of advanced specialization in Christian counseling for those who prefer/ask for those services. In addition, she holds a certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for children and adolescents with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Veronica is also rostered to provide Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to adolescents and adults with PTSD. CPT is a brief, twelve session therapy aimed at reducing symptoms and problem thoughts caused by traumatic events. This therapy also helps to cultivate healthier, more realistic thinking, which in turn improves overall mood and behavior. Veronica also offers Exposure and Response (Ritual) Prevention therapy for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Panic Disorder, and Specific Phobias.
Veronica is experienced in individual, family, and couples’ counseling and typically treats children, adolescents and adults ages eight and up. While she has experience with an array of mood and personality disorders, Veronica has special interest in helping people manage issues such as generalized anxiety/stress, OCD, specific phobias, PTSD (trauma), self-esteem related issues, relational issues, and spiritual issues. Veronica works alongside her clients to help them discover and utilize the tools they need to adequately handle life’s stressors, manage traumatic events, and develop healthier thoughts and coping skills to reach their individual goals.
