Ellen McCardell

Ellen McCardell received her bachelor of science degree in psychology with a secondary emphasis in Spanish from Juniata College and a master of arts degree in clinical mental health counseling from Slippery Rock University.  Her specialization within her graduate program and internship experience was working with children and adolescent populations.  She received her license as a Licensed Professional Counselor in November of 2020 and has experience working in both the outpatient and inpatient mental health settings.  
Ellen is experienced in individual and family counseling with children, adolescents, and adults.  She has also provided intensive outpatient therapy for individuals with dual diagnoses of mental health and substance abuse disorders.  Ellen has particular clinical interests in helping individuals address depression, anxiety, self-esteem, substance abuse issues, relationship issues, women’s concerns, grief and loss, and traumatic experiences.  She incorporates mindfulness techniques and CBT interventions within treatment to assist clients in managing life stressors and identifying negative thought patterns that lead to unhealthy behaviors.  Ellen’s goal is for clients to develop increased self-awareness and establish overall physical and emotional wellness.
